Assistant Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

Rexel, a global leader in electrical distribution, is seeking an Assistant Manager for its busy Richmond branch. This hands‑on leadership position balances people management, customer service, sales, and operational excellence, with Monday‑to‑Friday hours and no weekend work.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Branch Manager in leading, coaching, and developing a high‑performing team.
• Drive a customer‑first culture to ensure consistently exceptional service.
• Build strong relationships with trade, contractor, and commercial customers.
• Support branch sales growth, profitability, and key performance outcomes.
• Oversee daily operations including inventory, compliance, safety, and presentation.
• Lead by example on the sales floor, in the warehouse, and with customers.
• Step in to manage the branch in the Branch Manager’s absence.

Required profile

• Engaging leader with experience in a busy branch environment.
• Background in electrical wholesale, trade, industrial supply, hardware, or similar customer‑focused settings.
• Proven leadership or coaching track record.
• Strong commercial awareness with a drive to meet sales and operational targets.
• Excellent customer relationship and communication skills.
• Hands‑on approach to support customers and team members when needed.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
