Assistant Manager – Business & Tax Advisory

About the role

KPMG’s Business & Tax Advisory team is seeking an Assistant Manager to support private businesses, start‑ups, family groups and listed companies. You will work closely with senior staff to deliver high‑quality tax compliance and advisory services while developing your technical expertise and client management skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, income tax returns and Business Activity Statements for a variety of entity types.
• Assist in delivering tax advice, support Division 7A compliance, and advise on the tax implications of different structures.
• Provide business advisory support to private businesses and family groups.
• Review work prepared by Consultants and Senior Consultants, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
• Coach and mentor junior team members and help manage complex client engagements.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of Australian taxation legislation and compliance requirements.
• Ability to balance compliance delivery with commercial and advisory thinking.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• Preparation and review of financial statements and tax returns.
• Preparation and review of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other compliance obligations.
• Knowledge of Division 7A requirements and trust distribution planning.
