Assistant Manager – Business & Tax Advisory

About the role

KPMG is seeking an Assistant Manager to join its Business & Tax Advisory team. You will work closely with managers, directors and partners to deliver high‑quality tax compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of private businesses, start‑ups, family groups and listed companies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements and income tax returns for a variety of entity types.
• Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other statutory compliance obligations.
• Assist in delivering tax advice across a broad range of client matters.
• Support compliance with Division 7A requirements and trust distribution planning.
• Advise clients on tax implications of structures such as companies, trusts, partnerships and corporate groups.
• Provide business advisory support to private businesses and family groups.
• Review work prepared by consultants and senior consultants, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
• Build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Coach and mentor junior team members.
• Assist managers and partners in delivering complex client engagements and advisory projects.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of Australian taxation legislation and compliance requirements.
• Ability to balance compliance delivery with commercial and advisory thinking.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience in Australian Business Services and Tax Advisory, preferably at Senior Accountant, Senior Analyst or Assistant Manager level.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns and BAS.
• Familiarity with a broad range of entity structures.
