Assistant Manager – Business & Tax Advisory (Asian Business Practice)

About the role

KPMG’s Asian Business Practice is seeking an Assistant Manager to support China‑connected clients with tax and business advisory services. Based in Sydney (with options in Brisbane or Melbourne), you will work closely with senior leaders and a global network to deliver high‑quality, cross‑border solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day delivery of tax and business advisory engagements for China‑related clients.
• Provide practical advice on cross‑border tax, business structuring and international operations.
• Prepare and review tax compliance and reporting obligations, ensuring accuracy.
• Support client relationship management and act as a primary point of contact.
• Assist with engagement planning, budgeting, resource management and project coordination.
• Identify business development opportunities and coach junior team members.

Required profile

• Experience working with China‑connected clients or cross‑border engagements.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Client‑focused mindset with commercial awareness.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Tax advisory and business advisory experience.
• Knowledge of Australian taxation and exposure to international/China‑related tax matters.
• Project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
