Assistant Director of Pharmacy – Operations

About the role

The Assistant Director of Pharmacy (Operations) provides strategic leadership for pharmacy services at QEII Jubilee Hospital. Working part‑time (16 hours per fortnight on Mondays), you will guide a high‑performing team to deliver safe, innovative, patient‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the pharmacy operations team, overseeing dispensary services, medication inventory, purchasing and supply functions.
• Provide advanced clinical expertise and strategic advice while directing governance, medication safety, quality improvement and research initiatives.
• Mentor and develop pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and administrative staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Drive service innovation, workforce planning and operational excellence, ensuring legislative compliance and supporting strategic service delivery.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with AHPRA.
• Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy operations and advanced clinical pharmacy practice.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams in a complex healthcare environment.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and change‑management abilities.
• Passion for continuous improvement, medication safety, research and innovation.
