Assistant Accountant / Graduate

About the role

Splend, a rideshare vehicle ownership company focused on green mobility, is hiring an Assistant Accountant / Graduate for its Sydney finance team. Reporting to the AU Finance Manager, the role gives hands-on exposure to reconciliations, journals, accounts payable, company card processing, month-end and year-end close, and audit support. It suits recent accounting graduates who want a hands-on start and support for their CA or CPA journey.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare bank reconciliations for all Australian bank accounts and month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and post routine and month-end journal entries to keep the General Ledger accurate.
• Assist with General Ledger account analysis during month-end close.
• Process supplier bills and review entries in the accounts payable ledger.
• Process and review company card transactions, including reconciliations in the accounting software.
• Assist with transaction uploads and updates across finance systems.
• Support month-end and year-end close, including audit activities and ad hoc finance team priorities.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business with an accounting or finance major (2026 graduates welcome).
• Strong understanding of accounting concepts, with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Accounting experience through an internship, part-time role or similar is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork and ability to work under deadlines.

Required skills

• Confident Excel skills.
• Some exposure to accounting software; experience with NetSuite or Xero is highly regarded.
