Application Support Engineer

About the role

Nasdaq is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join its Systems Operations team. The role focuses on hands‑on operational support for critical production applications and data‑processing services in Linux/Unix environments, ensuring high availability and meeting strict SLAs.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor critical production applications, data flows, batch processing and capacity.
• Investigate alerts and production issues, restore services, and escalate when necessary.
• Own operational tickets from investigation through resolution and documentation.
• Execute startup, shutdown, backup, recovery and re‑processing procedures.
• Perform approved production deployments and configuration changes following change‑management processes.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, weekend support and occasional out‑of‑hours work.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent practical experience.
• Three or more years of experience in application support, technical operations or production support.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and collaborate with global technical teams.

Required skills

• Linux/Unix environments, command‑line tools, Bash/shell scripting.
• Monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Datadog or Splunk.
• Ticketing/incident‑management platforms like Jira.
• Version‑control and deployment workflows (Git or Bitbucket).
• Programming/scripting languages: Python, Perl.
• Familiarity with AWS‑hosted applications and hybrid cloud environments.
