AML/CTF Analyst

About the role

Clayton Utz, one of Australia's largest independent commercial law firms, is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Analyst to join its National Risk Team in Sydney. Working closely with the AML/CTF Team Leader, you will help ensure the firm stays compliant with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) laws.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial client due diligence (CDD), including reviewing and analysing client documentation, risk screenings, identifying beneficial ownership and undertaking open source research.
• Identify and escalate higher-risk issues and carry out enhanced CDD when additional risk factors appear.
• Monitor client relationships and transactions on an ongoing basis to spot changes and emerging AML/CTF risks.
• Maintain up-to-date records of client risk assessments and due diligence activities.
• Interpret regulations and internal policies to support risk-based decisions while complying with the firm's AML/CTF program.
• Contribute to developing and improving AML/CTF processes.
• Answer queries and advise stakeholders on how CDD processes are applied.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in law, business, finance or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organisational ability.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
