Accountant - Business Services and Tax

About the role

A well-established, family-owned accounting practice with more than 30 years of history is looking for an Accountant to join its team. The role sits in a friendly, collaborative environment with genuine client exposure and a varied workload, covering Business Services, Tax and SMSFs. It is based mainly in Modbury, with 1-2 days per week at the Prospect office.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements for small and medium-sized businesses across various entity types
• Prepare and lodge income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
• Prepare and lodge quarterly BAS
• Reconcile Xero files and complete general bookkeeping duties
• Assist with SMSF accounting and taxation matters where applicable
• Answer client accounting and taxation queries and liaise with the ATO on their behalf
• Maintain accurate client records and help with general practice administration

Required profile

• At least one year of experience in Business Services or Tax Accounting
• Experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns across multiple entity types
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients
• Attention to detail, ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
• Proactive attitude and enjoyment of teamwork and learning

Required skills

• Xero Practice Manager and Xero Ledger
• Experience with SMSFs and BGL is highly regarded but not essential

What we offer

• Salary of $75,000-$90,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience
