Account Executive – SME & Mid‑Market Payments & Billing

About the role

Airwallex is looking for an Account Executive to drive new revenue for its Payments and Billing solutions across high‑potential SME and mid‑market customers in Australia. You will own the full sales cycle, from prospecting to closing, and work closely with product and engineering teams to tailor solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Generate net‑new adoption of Payments and Billing products, including card acquiring, alternative payment methods, invoicing and subscription management.
• Manage the end‑to‑end sales process across your territory, meeting acquisition and revenue targets.
• Conduct structured discovery to understand customers’ billing and payment workflows and design tailored solutions.
• Deliver high‑quality presentations and demos to CXO‑level stakeholders, articulating commercial value.
• Collaborate with Strategy, Revenue Operations and Product Marketing to create targeted campaigns and segmentation.

Required profile

• 5+ years in account executive, business development or product sales within fintech or B2B payments.
• Proven ability to close complex deals in regulated or fast‑growth environments.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills with senior executives (CFO, CTO, Head of Payments).
• High degree of autonomy and success operating in ambiguous, fast‑changing contexts.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of card acquiring and alternative payment method processing.
• Experience selling billing/revenue products such as invoicing, subscription management or usage‑based billing.
• Familiarity with leading billing platforms (e.g., Stripe Billing, Chargebee, Zuora, Recurly).
• Comfort discussing APIs, integrations and data flows with technical stakeholders.
