Work Health & Safety / Risk Co-ordinator

About the role

Warren Shire Council is seeking a Work Health & Safety / Risk Co-ordinator to join its executive office team on a full-time basis. The main purpose of the role is to facilitate, develop and implement the Council's WHS and risk management strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and review the Health and Safety Management Plan
• Manage the Council's insurance portfolio effectively
• Implement risk management strategies and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
• Handle workers' compensation claims, injury management and return-to-work programs

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in WHS or risk management
• Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, internal audit functions, relevant legislation and insurance portfolios gained in a similar role
• Class C driver's licence and a White Card
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated, with strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving and organisational skills

What we offer

• Salary of $1,679.70 to $1,948.45 per week depending on qualifications and experience
• Superannuation at the current guarantee rate of 12%
• 19-day month flexitime system with a 35-hour week
• Leave provisions as per the Local Government (State) Award 2026
