WHS Officer

About the role

Hutchies is seeking a motivated WHS Officer to join its Rockhampton office on a full-time permanent basis. The role reports to the Team Leader and Site Team and works closely with them to achieve strategic goals and contribute to project success. The work environment is described as supportive, collaborative and down to earth.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the HSEQ Management System across allocated projects
• Work with site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture
• Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, company procedures and project requirements
• Assist with incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions and related documentation
• Provide WHS guidance, coaching and support to Site Managers, Project Managers, supervisors and subcontractors
• Help develop, implement and review project safety management plans and risk assessments
• Conduct site inspections, audits, observations and reviews to identify risks
• Support toolbox talks, safety meetings, inductions and workforce engagement
• Maintain accurate WHS records and promote hazard identification and risk management

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in the relevant field
• 2-3 years' experience in a WHS, Safety Advisor or similar role in construction
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and excellent written and verbal communication
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work both in a team and independently
• Knowledge of market conditions, construction techniques and industry standards
