Veterinary Nurse – Flexible Casual Role

About the role

Greencross Vets Hornsby is seeking an experienced Veterinary Nurse on a casual basis to support veterinarians, care for patients, and help maintain smooth clinic operations in a modern, low‑stress environment.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake general nursing duties, including pre‑ and post‑operative patient care.
• Assist veterinarians during consultations, treatments, and procedures.
• Monitor anaesthesia and support patient recovery.
• Collect pathology samples and perform diagnostic testing.
• Provide medical and hospital nursing, surgical preparation and theatre assistance.
• Conduct nurse consulting and client education.
• Maintain clinic hygiene, including surgical areas and equipment.
• Support reception and client care duties when required.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent).
• 2+ years of clinical veterinary nursing experience.
• Confidence in both medical and surgical nursing.
• Strong anaesthetic monitoring and patient care abilities.
• Excellent animal handling and communication skills.
• Organised, reliable, adaptable and able to work independently or in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in anaesthetic monitoring.
• Experience with RxWorks (desirable).
