Vessel Master 45m – Cruise Whitsundays

About the role

Cruise Whitsundays, based in Airlie Beach and owned by Journey Beyond, is the largest marine-based tour and transport provider in the Whitsundays, operating 10 well-equipped vessels and a sailing catamaran. It is seeking a Vessel Master on a casual basis for its 45m vessel. The Master is a critical leadership position reporting to the Operations Manager, responsible for the safe operation of the vessel, compliance and on-board maintenance, and for leading the crew to deliver exceptional guest service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead by example to provide exceptional guest experiences and maintain consistent service standards
• Address guest complaints promptly to preserve satisfaction and the quality of the experience
• Provide leadership and guidance to crew members, promoting their motivation and growth
• Assist with the ongoing training of new and existing staff to meet CWS standards
• Ensure adherence to SOPs, Marine Memos, operational procedures and WHS requirements

Required profile

• Dedicated professional focused on marine safety and compliance, with current training and certificates
• Proven ability to enhance guest experiences and increase satisfaction
• Strong commitment to identifying and coaching employees for growth
• Excellent guest service skills and effective communication, with strong people and crowd management skills

Required skills

• Minimum Master NC and Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 (MED2)
• Sailing experience highly desirable
• QLD Responsible Service of Alcohol
• Working with Children's Check (Blue Card)
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
• HLTAID015 Provide CPR and Advanced Oxygen Therapy
