Coxswain - Cruise Whitsundays

About the role

Cruise Whitsundays, based in Airlie Beach and owned by Journey Beyond, is the largest marine-based tour and transport provider in the Whitsundays, operating 10 well-equipped vessels and a sailing catamaran. It is seeking a motivated, experienced candidate to join its team on a casual basis as a Coxswain. The role supports onboard leadership by preparing vessels for transport, ensuring safe securing and departure, and keeping guests safe and comfortable.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with other crew members and the Master to facilitate smooth berthing
• Carry out tasks according to safety procedures under the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS)
• Do daily cleaning duties, including vessel cleaning and housekeeping
• Take part in in-water rescue and keep a lookout for guests
• Safely manoeuvre small vessels as required

Required profile

• Team player with a positive 'can-do' attitude and competent deckhand skills
• Confident vessel handling and sound in-water swimming skills, with physical fitness
• Knowledge of the marine/tourism environment is highly desirable
• Strong organisational skills and ability to deliver a consistent professional presentation

Required skills

• Coxswain Grade 1 NC (minimum)
• Blue Card Working with Children's Check
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID015 CPR and Advanced Oxygen Therapy
• Queensland Responsible Service of Alcohol
