Venue Workforce Manager - Men's RWC 2027
Rugby World Cup Australia
Job description
About the role
Rugby World Cup Australia is hiring two Venue Workforce Managers for the Men's Rugby World Cup 2027, with opportunities across any of its host cities. Reporting to the Senior Volunteer Manager, you will plan, coordinate and deliver workforce operations for your assigned venue, working with venue teams, Functional Areas, host city stakeholders, staff and volunteers. The role covers the full event lifecycle, from planning and readiness to match-day deployment, and is a full-time fixed-term contract starting February 2027 until November 2027.
Key responsibilities
- Lead workforce planning and readiness so workforce needs are built into venue operations, service plans, operating procedures and tournament delivery plans.
- Coordinate scheduling, rostering, deployment and attendance management through the Tournament Management System (TMS).
- Manage venue workforce infrastructure and services such as workforce centres, check-in locations, welfare facilities, FF&E, technology, transport, catering and signage.
- Validate volunteer requirements, prioritise volunteer positions and contribute to onboarding, engagement, recognition and offboarding.
- Deliver venue-specific training, Just-in-Time Training (JITT) and workforce briefings.
- Lead workforce operations at an allocated match venue during the tournament, overseeing deployment, attendance, welfare, reporting, issue escalation and day-to-day coordination.
- Represent Workforce in venue readiness and operational meetings with venue teams, Functional Areas and partners.
Required profile
- 2-3 years' experience in workforce operations, volunteer management, people operations or event workforce coordination within major events, sporting organisations or venues.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating workforce planning, scheduling, rostering and deployment across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience in venue, stadium, tournament or major event environments, with flexibility to travel between host cities and work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to obtain unlimited working rights in Australia.
Required skills
- Proficiency with workforce management, rostering and scheduling systems, and strong administrative, reporting and data management skills, including spreadsheets.
- Planning, organisational and problem-solving skills, and stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Communication, facilitation and presentation skills, including delivering training and briefings to diverse audiences.
What we offer
- A flexible work environment, whether Sydney-based or remote.
- Lunch & Learn sessions, wellbeing initiatives and skill development opportunities.
- For those working from the Sydney CBD office: a modern workplace, weekly fresh fruit, end-of-trip facilities, showers and towels.
Applications close 5 November 2026. Candidates submit a CV (maximum 3 pages) through the online application link; only shortlisted candidates are contacted, and the process involves a two-stage interview in Sydney or virtually for interstate candidates.
