Vehicle Transport Dispatcher – Path to Team Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Vehicle Transport Dispatcher who will own end-to-end vehicle movement across all six Australian states. From the moment a booking is confirmed until delivery and sign-off, you will manage carrier selection, daily dispatch, exception handling and cost control, all while staying calm under pressure.

Key responsibilities

• Run daily dispatch for NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA and TAS, including ferry logistics and interstate quarantine requirements.
• Build and maintain a panel of transport carriers, balancing price, capacity, lane and reliability.
• Negotiate rates, fuel levies, surcharges and volume commitments; hold carriers to delivery windows and condition standards.
• Coordinate single-vehicle and multi-vehicle carriers, arrange tow trucks, and manage pickups from auction houses and end-of-lease fleet handovers.
• Resolve exceptions such as transit damage, delays, missed pickups and paperwork issues, including cost recovery from carriers.
• Maintain a clean, accurate digital operating system that serves as the single source of truth.
• Report on cost per vehicle, cost per kilometre, on-time delivery and carrier performance.

Required profile

• Current, active network of Australian vehicle carriers you have moved vehicles with recently.
• Hands-on experience dispatching vehicle transport at meaningful volume across multiple states.
• Proven ability to manage many live jobs and exceptions simultaneously without loss of visibility.
• Comfort negotiating rates and holding suppliers accountable to service standards.
• Clear, calm communication both on the phone and in writing.
• Leadership judgement and accountability while operating as an individual contributor.
