Transport Driver

About the role

Royal Rehab Ryde is seeking a reliable Transport Driver to move in‑patients to and from external medical or dental appointments. The role also includes occasional non‑clinical support across the centre.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient transport for patients, securing them in wheelchairs and seatbelts.
• Collect and return keys and mobile phones daily; attend a morning briefing with the Coordinator.
• Coordinate with the transport escort nurse and nursing staff to manage client pickups, drop‑offs, and any cancellations.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and fuel levels; report faults and follow Centre Fleet Policy.
• Complete daily timesheets and attend mandatory training on emergency procedures.
• Assist on inpatient units with tasks such as portering, mail delivery, and stock transport when time permits.
• Contribute to quality improvement of the transport service.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence appropriate for patient transport vehicles.
• Experience transporting patients or similar clientele.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and secure clients correctly.
• Good communication with nursing and coordination staff.
• Willingness to perform additional support tasks as needed.
