Trainee Correctional Officer – Mount Gambier Prison

About the role

Join G4S at Mount Gambier Prison as a Trainee Correctional Officer and make a tangible difference in the community. You will receive paid training, earn a Certificate III in Correctional Practice, and progress to a fully accredited officer.

Key responsibilities

• Work directly with prisoners, managing case files and monitoring rehabilitation activities.
• Conduct daily searches, counts, and security patrols throughout the facility.
• Write case notes, prepare incident reports, and maintain accurate records.
• Participate in comprehensive training covering SOPs, self‑defence, radio operation, first aid, CPR, incident response, and screening equipment.

Required profile

• Willingness to work a rotating 24/7 roster, including weekends and public holidays.
• Holder of a valid Australian driver’s licence.
• Physically fit and able to pass a medical assessment.
• Full Australian working rights and ability to commence in March 2027.

Required skills

• Basic radio operation.
• First aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to use X‑ray and ion‑scan screening equipment.
• Self‑defence techniques.

What we offer

• Annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation, overtime and 7 weeks paid leave.
