Technician / Trades Assistant – Operations & Maintenance

About the role

Vena Energy is looking for a motivated, safety‑conscious Technician or Trades Assistant to join its operations and maintenance team at the Tailem Bend site. The role is site‑based and will be matched to your skills, experience and trade background, supporting safe and efficient plant operation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating, reviewing and updating check sheets, inspection documentation and maintenance plans for site equipment (structures, LV plant, civil, mechanical, facilities, etc.).
• Perform basic inspections, repairs and preventative or corrective maintenance on plant and equipment following OEM or approved procedures.
• Carry out vegetation management, general grounds duties, cleaning, housekeeping and inventory control.
• Participate in medium‑ and high‑voltage switching activities as permitted by training and competency.
• Execute preventative maintenance schedules for PV and wind assets, manage spare parts stock and audits.
• Support incident response, outage handling and emergency duties within competency limits.
• Maintain registers, check sheets and complete required reports.
• Assist with implementation of the Integrated Management System and HSSE documentation, including risk registers, SWMS, permits and audit findings.

Required profile

• Completion of Year 10 schooling.
• Mechanical knowledge with ability to maintain and repair equipment.
• Competent use of power and hand tools.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Class C manual driver’s licence.
• Good situational awareness in dynamic environments.
