Technical Director – Major Projects, Building Structures

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director with extensive building structures experience to lead major projects within its national Building Engineering team. The role combines technical and design leadership, project delivery, commercial management and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior technical and design leadership across large, multidisciplinary building engineering projects, ensuring quality, schedule and budget compliance.
• Lead project teams, manage client relationships, and deliver a portfolio of projects from concept through construction.
• Drive business development activities including proposals, tender interviews and presentations to win new work.
• Oversee commercial aspects such as budgets, pricing, contracts and financial performance.
• Develop high‑performing teams, support technical growth and contribute to resource planning.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering with ~20 years of Australian building services experience.
• Chartered Engineer status and appropriate professional registrations.
• Proven senior leadership in technical, project or business roles on complex building services projects.
• Strong commercial acumen and a track record of client engagement and business development.
• Established network within the Australian building engineering and property market.
