Teacher Librarian (Part-Time, 0.6 FTE)

About the role

Ivanhoe Grammar School is seeking a part-time (0.6 FTE) ongoing Teacher Librarian to start in Term 1 2027 at its Ridgeway Campus in Ivanhoe. Reporting to the Head of Library Services, the role works with teachers, curriculum leaders and the cross-campus library team to foster a culture of reading, inquiry and independent learning across Years 7-12, helping students build literacy, research and digital information skills.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging library programs that promote reading and research skills
• Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum delivery and information literacy across subjects
• Support students in developing research, study and digital literacy skills
• Promote a welcoming, inclusive library environment that supports student wellbeing
• Contribute to library initiatives, events and the curation of print and digital resources
• Advise teachers on the selection, acquisition and use of resources that support the curriculum
• Curate digital research library guides and provide diverse library programs and collections

Required profile

• Appropriate Teacher Librarianship qualifications, with current VIT registration and eligibility for ALIA membership
• Experience in a contemporary school library or learning environment
• Extensive knowledge of young adult literature and a passion for promoting reading
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, able to work with students, staff and parents
• Commitment to child safety, inclusion and student wellbeing

Required skills

• Digital research tools and library technologies, such as Accessit, LibGuides or similar
• Teaching information literacy, including referencing and the correct use of AI
