Tax & Compliance Accountant

About the role

Tyro is looking for a Tax & Compliance Accountant to join its accounting team on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. You will work directly with a diverse portfolio of customers, providing end‑to‑end tax and compliance services while navigating multiple platforms and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Review Tyro accounting bookkeeping for customers requesting an accountant review.
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) for standard and VIP clients.
• Prepare income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts.
• Draft financial statements as required and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
• Handle customer support calls related to accounting queries and lodgement walkthroughs.
• Provide ad‑hoc assistance to the Manager of Accounting and Tax.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications (IPA, Tax Agent, BAS Agent or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years experience in public practice as an Accountant or Tax Agent, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Ability to work with a large technology stack and multiple systems.
• Experience across a variety of industries and a willingness to adapt to different client needs.
