Tax and Accounting Advisor

About the role

Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Pty Ltd is seeking a Tax and Accounting Advisor to join its tax function in Perth. Reporting to the Tax Manager, the role will provide hands‑on support for tax compliance, accounting, reporting and advisory activities within a complex LNG joint‑venture environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support tax advisory and decision‑making through analysis of transaction design, contract structuring, cash‑flow, effective tax rate and project economics.
• Assist implementation of tax strategy across projects, investments and joint‑venture arrangements, including capital projects and commercial transactions.
• Maintain tax risk and governance documentation, including uncertain tax positions and risk exposures for senior review.
• Engage with the ATO, external advisors and auditors on technical matters, disputes, tax provisioning and forecasting.
• Prepare tax compliance, reporting and accounting inputs for Corporate Income Tax, PRRT, GST, FBT, royalties, excise, PAYG and related financial statement disclosures.
• Support selected financial accounting, analysis and reporting activities and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Assist with ESG and sustainability reporting requirements where relevant.

Required profile

• 5+ years of tax experience in professional services or a comparable environment.
• Strong analytical ability and experience with multi‑entity tax matters.
• Proven capability to work with senior stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, Legal and joint‑venture groups.
• Motivation to build technical depth in corporate income tax, tax accounting and financial reporting.

• Experience interacting with tax authorities and external advisors.
