Tax & Accounting Specialist (ANZ)

About the role

Hays, a specialist recruitment and workforce solutions organisation, is recruiting an ANZ Tax and Accounting Specialist for its finance function. Reporting to the ANZ Financial Controller, the role covers a broad portfolio of taxation, statutory compliance and financial reporting, with exposure to payroll, HR and wider financial control activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare income tax and fringe benefits tax returns and liaise with external tax consultants
• Prepare, lodge and ensure timely payment of BAS
• Calculate taxable wages and manage monthly payroll tax obligations across Australian states
• Maintain FBT records and allocate employee benefits correctly
• Maintain fixed asset depreciation schedules for income tax purposes
• Take part in ATO audits, questionnaires and ad hoc investigations
• Prepare and lodge ASIC returns on time and maintain statutory records for Hays and its subsidiaries
• Prepare statutory financial reports under Corporations Law and accounting standards
• Manage salary sacrifice records and advise HR on changes
• Maintain records of Hays-owned and leased motor vehicles, the Franking Dividend Account and dividend payment statements
• Handle business name registrations, private employment agency licences and insurance requirements
• Support the National Staff Payroll Manager and suggest improvements to processes, controls and service delivery

Required profile

• 5+ years' experience in tax or business services, in public practice or a global commercial organisation
• CA or CPA qualification
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills
• Able to work across multiple taxation and statutory compliance requirements
