Strategic Management Accountant

About the role

The City of Karratha is looking for a commercially‑minded finance leader to shape its financial future. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee budgeting, treasury, business partnering and financial planning while leading a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the coordination and delivery of the annual budget and budget review processes with stakeholders across the organisation.
• Oversee treasury operations, cash‑flow management, strategic investments and loan portfolio compliance.
• Support the preparation of financial statements, monthly reporting, long‑term financial planning and audit activities.
• Provide expert financial advice, analysis and reporting to Councillors, leaders and key stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Management Accounting team and drive continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with CPA or Chartered Accountant accreditation.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior financial management or management accounting role with leadership responsibility for multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, treasury management, financial reporting, cash‑flow management and Australian Accounting Standards.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
• Highly developed analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
