Steward – Kitchen Support Role

About the role

Join Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach as a Kitchen Steward, ensuring the culinary environment is clean, organised and safe for chefs and guests. This hands‑on position supports the entire back‑of‑house operation.

Key responsibilities

• Wash, clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery and glassware in line with HACCP and food safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchens, stewarding areas, cool rooms and back‑of‑house spaces.
• Support chefs by keeping work areas stocked and ready for service.
• Assist with waste management, recycling and sustainable practices.
• Identify and report maintenance or safety issues.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP knowledge highly regarded).
• Reliable, hands‑on approach with pride in maintaining high standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
• Physical capability to perform manual tasks safely.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HACCP cleaning schedules and chemical handling.
