Staff Specialist / Visiting Medical Officer – Anaesthetics

About the role

An exciting full‑time opportunity exists for a qualified Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthetics at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, supporting surgical and procedural patients across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

Key responsibilities

• Provide evidence‑based anaesthetic care across MLHD sites, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
• Supervise and educate junior doctors and multidisciplinary clinical staff.
• Participate in on‑call roster and occasional regional sessions.
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and departmental administration.

Required profile

• Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Anaesthesia (or equivalent overseas pathway).
• Strong communication, leadership and teaching commitment.
• Availability for on‑site on‑call duties and alignment with NSW Health CORE values.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using clinical information systems.
