Staff Specialist Geriatrician – Wagga Wagga Base Hospital

About the role

The role is a permanent full‑time Staff Specialist position in Geriatric Medicine at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, part of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District. You will join a multidisciplinary aged‑care team delivering high‑quality inpatient, outpatient and community services across a large regional catchment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient geriatric consultative services and clinical leadership for the 16‑bed Geriatric Medicine Unit.
• Deliver outpatient, ambulatory and community geriatric clinics, including outreach via onsite visits, telehealth and GP support.
• Support Aged Care Assessment Teams, Aged Care Services in Emergency Teams and community aged‑care services.
• Supervise junior medical staff, contribute to teaching, and participate in clinical governance, quality improvement and research.

Required profile

• Unconditional specialist registration with AHPRA or general registration within the final six months of training.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Geriatric Medicine or equivalent advanced trainee status.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence‑based geriatric practice and ability to work in a rural hospital setting.
• Commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork, teaching, quality improvement and alignment with NSW Health core values.
