Staff Specialist - Radiology (Medical Imaging)

About the role

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (part of NSW Health) is recruiting two Staff Specialists in Radiology (up to 2.0 FTE in total) for the Department of Medical Imaging at Nepean Hospital. The roles are permanent and open on a full-time or part-time basis, working alongside the Head of Department and a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Report plain films, perform fluoroscopic examinations and supervise ultrasound, CT, angiography and interventional procedures
• Take part in the on-call roster and a rostered imaging service to Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital, supported by teleradiology
• Supervise and teach junior medical staff and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education
• Contribute to research, quality improvement, peer review and departmental governance
• MRI reporting is available to radiologists in the FRANZCR accreditation program; appointees may be eligible for credentialing at other district facilities

Required profile

• Fellowship of RANZCR, or RACP and/or RACS with CCINR registration, or equivalent specialist recognition
• Registration or eligibility for registration with AHPRA
• Sound clinical knowledge of radiology and its subspecialties, with evidence of quality assurance and ongoing professional development
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork, teaching and supervision of junior staff
• An interest in research and continuous improvement; applicants expecting to receive their fellowship within six months may be considered
