Staff Specialist – Internal Medicine (VMO) in Broken Hill

About the role

The Far West Local Health District is seeking a Staff Specialist Physician to provide general internal medicine care to public and private patients in the remote community of Broken Hill, NSW. You will work in a smaller rural health facility, gaining greater autonomy and responsibility while supervising junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver professional general physician care to vulnerable communities across far‑west NSW.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical officers, fostering clinical education and training.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary health teams across multiple sites to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Australian citizen or permanent resident with specialist registration (or eligibility) on AHPRA.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent specialist recognition.
• Recent hospital experience in internal medicine and demonstrated competence in the specialty.

Required skills

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary health‑care team.
