Staff Specialist – General Medicine (Regional NSW)

About the role

The major regional hospital in New South Wales is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist in General Medicine. You will join a respected medical team delivering acute and general inpatient care while providing senior clinical leadership, teaching, and specialist outpatient services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist-level inpatient care across General and Acute Medicine.
• Participate in after‑hours and on‑call rosters as required.
• Support safe patient flow, bed management, and transfers of care.
• Deliver outpatient clinics and internal consult services.
• Offer clinical leadership, mentorship, and teaching to registrars, junior doctors, nursing and allied health staff.
• Engage in quality‑improvement, research, and service‑development activities.

Required profile

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in General & Acute Care Medicine.
• AHPRA Specialist Registration (unrestricted).
• Strong experience in general medicine and acute inpatient care.
• Commitment to outreach models of care for rural and regional communities.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership and enthusiasm for teaching.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient‑centred approach.
