Team Leader – Dementia Care Services

About the role

The Team Leader provides leadership and operational oversight for the Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Service and the Hospital to Aged Care Dementia Support Program. This full‑time role is based in Darwin and involves managing a multidisciplinary team to support people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional and clinical leadership for team members and ensure timely allocation of referrals.
• Maintain office safety, routine maintenance, equipment, ICT and fleet vehicle usage.
• Manage delegated approvals for brokerage and travel in line with policy.
• Ensure wellbeing and safety of team members and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Report regularly to the Regional Manager on performance, service quality and operational issues.
• Recruit and develop team members with appropriate skills.
• Handle customer complaints and incidents, escalating when necessary.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Nursing, Allied Health or a related health degree.
• Experience supporting older people and carers with dementia, emphasizing psycho‑social case management.
• Ability to manage and support a skilled professional team across multiple sites.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, planning and analytical skills.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel intra‑ and interstate.
• Empathy, patience and a customer‑service mindset.

Required skills

• Knowledge of non‑pharmacological dementia behaviour strategies.
• Proficiency with administrative and computer systems for reporting and scheduling.
