Staff Specialist – General Medicine (Regional NSW Hospital)

About the role

A major regional hospital in New South Wales is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist in General Medicine. The role involves delivering high‑quality acute and general medical care to a diverse inpatient casemix while providing senior clinical leadership, teaching and specialist outpatient services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist‑level inpatient care within General and Acute Medicine.
• Participate in after‑hours and on‑call rosters as required.
• Support safe patient flow, bed management and transfers of care.
• Deliver outpatient clinics and internal consult services.
• Offer clinical leadership and mentorship to registrars, junior doctors, nursing and allied health teams.
• Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
• Engage in quality improvement, research and service development activities.

Required profile

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in General & Acute Care Medicine.
• AHPRA Specialist Registration (unrestricted).
• Strong experience in general medicine and acute inpatient care.
• Commitment to outreach models of care for rural and regional communities.
• Demonstrated capacity for clinical leadership and a patient‑centred approach.
