Staff Robotics Engineer

About the role

Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Robotics Engineer to lead the delivery of perception and planning capabilities for autonomous maritime vehicles. This senior technical role involves end‑to‑end ownership of vehicle autonomy across the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver a multi‑year software roadmap spanning multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Lead architecture, design and implementation of safe navigation, collision avoidance and situational awareness systems.
• Develop sensor suites, perception and planning algorithms, and test fixtures for autonomous vehicles.
• Conduct testing and validation using simulation tools and real‑world data, and evolve data analysis tooling.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical and systems engineers to ensure effective integration and testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in a senior perception or planning role delivering robotic systems.
• Ability to act as technical owner for a system, managing stakeholders, roadmap, design, implementation and sustainment.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Negative Vetting 2 security clearance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
• Familiarity with autonomous vehicle sensors such as radar, sonar, LIDAR and cameras.
• Knowledge of computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning or machine learning.
