Space Software Engineer

About the role

Saab Australia is hiring a Space Software Engineer to develop Space Domain products that give real-time situational awareness and decision support. You will design, develop, integrate and test software solutions within an agile, multidisciplinary team, contributing to user interfaces, data integrations and core system functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance software components using modern SDKs and frameworks.
• Maintain and improve existing applications, keeping code quality and documentation current.
• Produce technical documentation, architecture descriptions, diagrams and process flows.
• Perform integration testing to validate functionality against requirements.
• Support secure CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and deployment.
• Identify, manage and communicate technical risks and issues to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners and build strong stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Australian citizen who holds or can obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level; past and present nationality may be checked for export control compliance.
• Experience in front-end development (web applications, UI design) and/or back-end development (APIs, microservices, containerised applications).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript or C#.
• Object-oriented design and design patterns.
• Agile development and systems engineering practices.
• Git for version control and configuration management.
