Technical Publications Team Lead

About the role

Saab Australia is looking for a Technical Publications Team Lead to lead, maintain and grow the Technical Publications team within the Naval Combat Systems (NCS) ILS Team of the System Delivery Group. The role supports NCS requirements through technical publications delivered to the customer.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the Technical Publications team capability to support NCS requirements
• Estimate, plan and support the execution of project deliveries
• Maintain team capability so technical publications can be developed and delivered to the customer
• Provide direction, task prioritisation and management support to the team
• Manage project scope, coordinate resources and allocate tasks
• Support the S1000D capability and associated toolsets
• Undertake Control Account and Work Package management for Technical Publications activities
• Provide mentoring, training and guidance to team members

Required profile

• Minimum eight years of technical writing experience in manufacturing, technology, engineering, electrical or defence industries
• Extensive experience developing technical and operator manuals for software-intensive systems
• Excellent written English
• Australian citizen, holding or able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance at NV1 level; export control eligibility (e.g. ITAR) may be checked

Required skills

• S1000D publication development
• Advanced editing of large and complex documents in Microsoft Word and/or Adobe FrameMaker
• Broad experience with Windows applications and Microsoft Office
• Experience methodologies for developing documentation for hardware and software products
