Software Engineer - Defence Projects (Multiple Opportunities)

About the role

Saab Australia is seeking aspiring Software Engineers to join its growing teams in Adelaide. This is a full-time role with flexible working options, offering the chance to develop software engineering skills while supporting the delivery and sustainment of leading-edge defence capabilities on naval and ICT projects. The position is open to mid-level and senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in system architecture and technical design decisions.
• Review code and give technical guidance to team members.
• Work with Product Owners, engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex technical issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and engineering practices.
• Support software releases and ongoing maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar) or equivalent experience, preferably in the defence industry.
• Fluent in at least one of Java, Ada, C++ or C#.
• Experience with both procedural and object-oriented programming, and with design patterns.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and systems engineering practices.
• Australian citizen who can obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance, preferably at NV1 level.

Required skills

• Git and configuration management.
• Desirable: Mavlink, Bash, Python, Go, TypeScript, DDS, IBM DOORS, Docker, Linux, test automation, HMIs and safety-critical systems.
