About the role
Aerometrex, a geospatial technology company behind the MetroMap platform, is looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of Software Engineers, DevOps Engineer and Solution Architect that builds and runs MetroMap. The role owns the platform's stability, security and growth. It is a full-time position based in Adelaide, working on-site with WFH flexibility.
Key responsibilities
- Stay technically engaged across the full stack, unblocking the team through code reviews, architectural prototyping and pair programming
- Partner with the Solution Architect to guide AWS solutions for MetroMap, focusing on scalability, performance and cost efficiency
- Own the software lifecycle end to end, from architecture and build through deployment and production operations
- Work with AI tools from evaluation through integration and production use
- Lead, coach and develop the team, run agile delivery with executives and product management, and champion secure development
- Lead major programs such as Infrastructure as Code migration, AWS cost optimisation and cloud storage streamlining
- Drive the design, governance and responsible integration of agentic AI tools into MetroMap
- Act as escalation point for platform stability and availability, lead incident response and drive post-incident reviews
Required profile
- 7+ years in software development, including 3+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent training
- Ability to lead experienced technical specialists and turn stakeholder needs into clear requirements
Required skills
- Strong Python, including API frameworks and high-performance data pipelines
- Strong AWS experience across architecture, cost optimisation and IAM
- Secure development, access control and vulnerability management
- Nice to have: SaaS product experience, IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK), agentic AI, React/TypeScript/Node.js, and AWS Solutions Architect or AI/ML certification
