Software Engineer – Consumer Platform

About the role

Nine, Australia's largest locally owned media company, is hiring a Software Engineer for its Consumer Platform team in North Sydney. You will help build foundational platforms that unify customer identity, engagement, billing and subscriptions across Nine's digital products, supporting brands such as 9Now, Stan, The Sydney Morning Herald, Good Food and The Australian Financial Review.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver sprint engineering tasks with autonomy and take ownership of squad issues.
• Help team members develop solution designs and identify useful techniques or technologies.
• Improve squad practices, tools and standards, and raise the quality and security of others' solutions.
• Work with product managers, designers and engineers, explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and documenting design decisions.
• Collaborate on complex problems and ensure unresolved issues are captured in the backlog.

Required profile

• Proven experience building multiple systems and delivering complete, end-to-end solutions.
• Strong competence in core backend and frontend technologies, able to work autonomously.
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms and a solid understanding of architectural patterns.
• A track record of improving engineering tools and team processes.
• Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Right to lawfully work and live in Australia.
