Social Visitor Volunteer – Crochet and Conversation

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for a social visitor to spend time with an elderly lady living at home. The volunteer shares a love of crochet and creative pursuits, and together they might work on crochet projects, chat about life, exchange ideas and enjoy each other's company. Visits take place in the client's home and can be weekly or fortnightly depending on availability.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the client in her home one-on-one, offering companionship and meaningful connection through shared interests.
• Share crochet projects, craft activities or simply a cup of tea and conversation.
• Help spark joy, creativity and friendship, and support the client's quality of life and sense of connection.

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older.
• A national volunteer police check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Availability for an hour-long visit between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Sunday; frequency depends on your availability.
• A love of crochet or crafts is a bonus.
