Site Manager for Energy Storage Projects

About the role

Fluence, a global leader in intelligent energy storage, is seeking a driven Site Manager to lead the construction of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Sydney. This 12‑month contract role reports to the Senior Construction Manager and focuses on delivering projects on‑time, on‑budget, and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership in construction planning, coordinating on‑site activities such as bulk earthworks, civil works, mechanical installation, electrical cabling, and pre‑commissioning.
• Work closely with the commissioning team for smooth handover, and report daily progress to the Project Manager.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Oversee site staff, principal contractors and sub‑contractors to meet safety, quality and schedule targets.
• Evaluate construction methods for cost‑effectiveness and respond to schedule delays or emergencies.

Required profile

• Experience managing high‑voltage electrical projects exceeding $200 million, preferably BESS, power stations, switchyards or transmission lines connected to the Australian grid.
• Proven experience with Tier 1 organisations; exposure to AGL projects is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Technical knowledge of high‑voltage electrical systems and BESS equipment.
