Job description

About the role

Bridgit, a non-bank lender helping Australians access property equity, is hiring a Settlements Manager in Sydney. You will lead the team that makes settlement happen on time, owning each loan from formal approval through funding, settlement and discharge, which can follow settlement by as little as a week.

Key responsibilities

  • Run a reliable settlements pipeline, allocating work and setting daily priorities to hit monthly volumes.
  • Clear conditions, ensure loan and security documents are correct, and book settlements with solicitors, conveyancers and other lenders.
  • Manage discharges, including payout figures, discharge documents and release of security.
  • Sign off funding and disbursements, reconcile funds, and check mortgages and titles are registered after settlement.
  • Act as escalation point for failed or delayed settlements and discharges, disputes and exceptions.
  • Coach a team of Settlement Officers, run one-on-ones and performance reviews, and build capability through training and quality checks.
  • Give stakeholders a monthly forecast of settlements and discharges, flag slippage early, and keep brokers informed.
  • Ensure compliance with NCCP, AML/CTF, privacy, responsible lending and internal policies, maintain internal controls, log errors and breaches, and report weekly on volumes, turnaround times and errors.
  • Work with the manager to fix bottlenecks in processes, handoffs and systems, including automation.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in a senior role managing property settlements, ideally in a financial institution, panel solicitor or related industry.
  • Hands-on experience across the full settlement and discharge lifecycle, ideally at a fast-moving lender.
  • A record of improving a process and proving it with numbers.
  • Experience leading a settlements team, including coaching staff and handling underperformance.
  • Clear, direct communication with brokers, solicitors and senior internal stakeholders.

What we offer

  • Extra days off: birthday leave, kudos leave and an additional day of paid leave for life events.
  • Two weeks of remote work per year.
  • Training and development budget and internal learning programmes.
  • Generous parental leave.
  • Discounted gym membership.
  • Catered team lunches and a social calendar of events.
  • Dog-friendly Sydney HQ office with a rooftop.
