Senior Technical Officer – Highway Design

About the role

AECOM’s Highways team in Brisbane is expanding and seeks an experienced Senior Technical Officer to lead design on Queensland’s key transport infrastructure projects. You will own complex design packages, mentor junior staff and drive digital engineering innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead geometric design of highways, arterial roads and intersections using 12d.
• Deliver high‑quality designs that meet TMR RPDM and Austroads standards.
• Own complex packages including horizontal/vertical geometry, cross‑sections, corridor modelling, superelevation and drainage interfaces.
• Act as design lead on major TMR projects, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs.
• Mentor designers and junior engineers, building team capability.

Required profile

• 8–10+ years of civil design experience, preferably in highways or transport infrastructure.
• Strong capability in 12d and AutoCAD (essential).
• Associate Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
• Proven delivery on TMR, TfNSW, VicRoads or major council projects.
• Confidence working across multidisciplinary teams and managing design interfaces.
