Senior Support Worker

About the role

HomePlace is recruiting a Senior Support Worker in Woodville, South Australia, in a leadership and mentorship role that empowers people with a disability to participate and belong in their communities. The position is permanent part-time, working over the 7-day week including AM and PM shifts, passive sleepovers and public holidays. It combines high-quality direct support with day-to-day leadership and oversight of supports within the person's home.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct support and lead and oversee daily support within the person's home
• Contribute to support planning, goal development and monitoring of participant outcomes
• Support implementation of behaviour support, communication and health care plans
• Facilitate community connections, relationships and opportunities for social participation
• Support participants with health, personal care, medication and medical appointments as required
• Mentor, coach and support team members; support orientation and onboarding of new team members
• Facilitate team meetings, reflective practice and effective communication
• Oversee household operations, including budgets, resources, maintenance and safety requirements
• Identify and escalate health, safety, safeguarding and support concerns
• Build relationships with families, representatives, health professionals and service providers, and advocate for the rights, choices and aspirations of the people supported

Required profile

• Natural leader or experienced support worker with a strong social conscience
• Commitment to improving the lives, wellbeing and independence of people with disability
• Application of Social Role Valorisation (SRV) principles to strengthen participation, relationships and community inclusion
• Effective time management, collaboration and proactive problem solving
• Covid vaccinated three times

What we offer

• Hourly rate of $41.12 depending on days and time of day worked, plus leave entitlements, allowances and salary packaging
