Home Care Assistant

About the role

Southern Cross Care is hiring a Home Care Assistant in Woodville, South Australia, for a permanent full-time position of 76 hours per fortnight. The assistant provides person-centred, safe and effective support tailored to each client's needs, goals and preferences, helping clients maintain their independence and self-determination in their own homes. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1606 in weeks 1 and 2.

Required profile

• Certificate III in a relevant field (Individual Support - Ageing, Aged Care or Home & Community Care)
• At least 3 months of demonstrated experience in a personal care role, able to work independently without direct supervision
• Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates
• Current, unrestricted Australian driver's licence (C class) and a registered, fully insured vehicle (mandatory)
• Sound, best-practice personal care skills and a strong understanding of supporting clients living with dementia, including challenging behaviours
• Good time management, organisation and relationship-building skills with clients and families
• Basic cooking abilities and a basic understanding of Home Care Packages
