Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

Robert Bird Group, a member of the SJ Group, is a global consulting engineering firm specialising in structural, civil and specialist engineering. It is looking for an Experienced / Senior Structural Engineer to join its buildings and structures team in Brisbane. Working with a specialist team of engineers, drafters and project managers, the role covers technical design input, coordination and project delivery for buildings projects locally and nationally, in a hybrid arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate structural design and documentation for projects locally and nationally
• Carry out structural design components using software such as SpaceGass, ETABS, MicroStran and Strand7
• Review structural designs so that analysis and design meet technical standards and client and group requirements
• Produce engineering reports and support tender proposals
• Collaborate with team members, contributors and stakeholders to keep projects on time and coordinated
• Liaise with Project Directors and Associates on current and future projects

Required profile

• Engineering qualification with a focus on structural engineering
• 5+ years of experience in an engineering design consultancy
• Solid grounding in steel and concrete design
• CPEng or actively working towards chartership
• Demonstrated design experience with structural software
• Project management experience covering administrative, commercial and technical aspects
• Strong understanding of Australian codes and standards
• Able to work independently and in a team, with full working rights
