Senior Safety Advisor – Government Transformation (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Safety Advisor on a contract basis to support a major government transformation programme. The role will work closely with the Safety Project Manager and senior leaders to design, improve and embed a robust Safety Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance safety frameworks, policies and procedures aligned with legislation.
• Translate OHS/WH​S legislation into practical, user‑friendly processes.
• Implement safety systems, assurance frameworks and operational controls.
• Partner with leaders and stakeholders to drive adoption and engagement.
• Support audits, risk‑management initiatives and continuous‑improvement activities.
• Bridge strategy and execution to deliver sustainable safety outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Safety Advisor, WHS Advisor or Safety Business Partner.
• Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, compliance obligations and ISO 45001.
• Demonstrated ability to develop or enhance Safety Management Systems.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Experience with risk management, audits, incident investigations and assurance.
• Strong written communication for policy and procedure development.
