Senior Project Officer (Spatial) - Abandoned Mine Remediation

About the role

A Queensland Government department, whose client is recruiting through Precruitment, is looking for a Senior Project Officer (Spatial) based in Townsville. This temporary full-time position supports statewide projects on abandoned mine remediation and non-commercial water assets, applying GIS and spatial data expertise to project planning, data management, analysis and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support project planning, data management, analysis and reporting so that accurate information informs operational decisions and improves safety outcomes.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain spatial datasets, GIS applications, dashboards and reporting tools.
• Assist with project coordination, risk management, data quality and stakeholder engagement.
• Contribute to consistent practices and knowledge sharing across the team.

Required profile

• Experience using GIS technologies, particularly ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
• Strong capability in spatial data management, validation, quality assurance and analysis.
• Experience developing or maintaining GIS web applications, dashboards and spatial visualisations.
• Problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to coordinate project activities and manage competing priorities.
• A technical tertiary qualification, highly regarded.
• A current open C Class driver licence; physical fitness for remote fieldwork, with travel and overnight stays possibly required.
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship or an appropriate visa to live and work in Australia.
