Senior Environmental Health Officer

About the role

A Senior Environmental Health Officer leads complex environmental health matters, provides expert guidance, supports and mentors officers and works with stakeholders to deliver high-quality services. It is a permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight, with a closing date of 12 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the delivery of Environmental Health services.
• Provide operational leadership and technical guidance to the team, and support the Coordinator and act in the role during absences.
• Coordinate workloads and daily operational priorities.
• Drive continuous improvement and service enhancement initiatives.
• Ensure consistent, evidence-based regulatory decisions and enforcement, and oversee the quality and timeliness of services.
• Coach, mentor and develop Environmental Health Officers.
• Represent the City in stakeholder, industry and inter-agency forums.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification in Environmental Health or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience delivering Environmental Health services and regulatory functions.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor and coach team members.
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and compliance frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage complex investigations, projects and competing priorities, and to prepare professional reports, correspondence and recommendations.
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate and the right to work in Australia; work sponsorship requests are not considered.

What we offer

• Level 8 salary of $111,376 to $117,763 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
